Oilers an option for Comrie?

TheFourthPeriod.com

According to the Edmonton Sun, the Oilers could be an option for unrestricted free agent center Mike Comrie.

Comrie remains unsigned and has been speaking with a number of clubs as training camp quickly approaches.

Comrie, who began his NHL career playing for the Oilers, left Edmonton in a trade to Philadelphia saying he wouldn't want to return.

The 28-year-old refused to comment when contacted by the Sun.

Meanwhile, Andrew Cogliano spoke publicly for the first time since almost being traded to the Ottawa Senators in a package for Dany Heatley.

Cogliano was disappointed to hear he was almost dealt, and hopes he can stay in Edmonton long-term.

"I want to be here for a long time. I want to be a guy who's here for the long haul, but anything can happen. Guys like myself can be moved at any time," he told the Edmonton Journal.
