Oilers offered 9-year deal for Hossa TheFourthPeriod.com
According to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, the Edmonton Oilers offered Marian Hossa a nine-year, $81 million contract that was ultimately rejected.
The paper claims by mid-morning yesterday, Hossa was mulling over two offers, the Oilers deal and a one-year, $7.4 million contract tabled by the Detroit Red Wings. He chose the latter.
"Shocked was my initial reaction," Wings GM Ken Holland told the Tribune-Review. "Marian really made this happen. Marian made this marriage happen by agreeing to a one-year contract."
