With trade chatter starting to pick up in Detroit, the Red Wings could make some noise between now and the March 1 trade deadline if they can't jump into the playoff race.
The Red Wings, as TFP reported over the weekend, have already received calls and interest in veteran winger Thomas Vanek, who is in the final year of his contract, but a deal is not imminent.
During Tuesday evening's "Insider Trading" segment on TSN, Pierre LeBrun reported Red Wings GM Ken Holland plans on meeting with Vanek to see if a contract extension is possible. If it isn't, he will look to move him.
But Vanek isn't the only player who could be on the move.
According to Bob McKenzie, the Wings are willing to move winger Tomas Jurco if the right deal presented itself.
Jurco, 24, is in the final year of his contract and can become a restricted free agent July 1.
The Wings could package Jurco in a deal leading up to the trade deadline, or wait to make a move closer to the NHL Draft in late-June in Chicago.
