Wings exploring trade options
TheFourthPeriod.com

Detroit Red Wings GM Ken Holland is looking at multiple trade scenarios to further strengthen his roster after the team's 6-3-1 start to the season.

Holland continues to search for a top-tier defenseman and a scoring winger, but has come up empty, thus far.

According to TSN's Darren Dreger, the Wings are shopping physical forward Jordin Tootoo, who has a $1.9 million salary cap hit.

The Wings were shopping Tootoo in the summer, but weren't able to find a trading partner.

Dreger adds the Wings want to call up young forward Gustav Nyquist, but need to shed salary in order to make it happen.

Nyquist, 24, has recorded seven points in five games with the Grand Rapids Griffins of the AHL so far this season and could give the Wings the secondary scoring they seek.

The Wings also need to clear space with the impending return of forward Darren Helm, who is set to come off I.R. on Saturday.
