Red Wings looking for defenseman
TheFourthPeriod.com

Detroit Red Wings GM Ken Holland is scouring the trade market in hopes of finding a top-tier defenseman to add to his roster before the season opens next on Jan. 19.

The Red Wings signed defenseman Carlo Colaiacovo prior to the lockout, but the team is looking for a top-pairing blueliner.

Holland tried to sign Ryan Suter in the summer, but lost out to the Minnesota Wild.

It's uncertain what the Red Wings are willing to trade in exchange for an upgrade on the blueline, but the team is aggressively trying to make a move.

The Winnipeg Jets could be willing to entertain offers for Zach Bogosian, whom the Edmonton Oilers are also interested in, while the Calgary Flames could look to trade Jay Bouwmeester.

The Wings showed interest in Bouwmeester last season, along with Phoenix Coyotes defenseman Keith Yandle, though it's unclear if talks have resumed in the last week.
