Lidstrom will take his time
TheFourthPeriod.com

Red Wings captain Nicklas Lidstrom won't be making up his mind any time soon when it comes to playing next season, or at least that's what he wants us to believe.

The future Hall of Fame defenseman is contemplating retirement and is scheduled to meet with Detroit GM Ken Holland during the team's exit meetings, where he'll undoubtedly touch on his future.

Lidstrom, should he decide to play at least another season, will only return next season in a Red Wings uniform, but wants to discuss his plans with his family before making any decisions.

"You have to be motivated. You have to have that drive. That's what I will think about," Lidstrom was quoted as saying today via the Red Wings Twitter page.

Lidstrom, who turns 42 on Apr. 28, indicated that he thinks he'll make a decision prior to the start of free agency, which begins July 1.

Meanwhile, teammate Tomas Holmstrom is also considering the possibility of hanging up his skates, but like Lidstrom, a timeline hasn't been set.
