Lidstrom isn't focused on next contract
TheFourthPeriod.com

Red Wings captain Nicklas Lidstrom is focused on competing for a Stanley Cup championship this spring and isn't worried about his next contract.

Lidstrom, who turns 41 on Apr. 28, made $6.2 million this season after signing a one-year deal with the Red Wings last June.

While it's believed the native of Vasteras, Sweden is expected to return to the Wings next season, there are various reports suggesting this could be his last year in the NHL.

Lidstrom, who should be in contention for another Norris Trophy this summer, is not concerned about the 2011-12 campaign and wants his focus set on helping Detroit return to the Stanley Cup Final.

The four-time Stanley Cup champ has won the Norris Trophy six times and was named playoff MVP in 2001-02, and is a 12-time NHL All-Star.

Defensemen Jonathan Ericsson and Ruslan Salei, goalie Chris Osgood, and forwards Mike Modano, Kris Draper, Drew Miller and Patrick Eaves are also in the final year of their respective contracts.
