Wings, Maltby still talking
TheFourthPeriod.com

Veteran forward Kirk Maltby wants to stay in Hockeytown and the Red Wings appear interested in bringing him back, the Detroit News reports.

Maltby, an unrestricted free agent, has been waiting patiently as his agent, Anton Thun, continues talks with Wings GM Ken Holland.

"We are certainly still talking," Thun told the News. "It's been phone tag. At this point, Kirk's preference is clearly to play for the Wings.

The Wings are also in negotiations with unrestricted free agent center Mike Modano and still have to sign restricted free agents Patrick Eaves, Darren Helm and Justin Abdelkader.
