The Detroit Red Wings have signed unrestricted free agent left wing Brad May to a one-year, $500,000 contract.
May, 37, split last season between the Anaheim Ducks and Toronto Maple Leafs.
In 1,001 career NHL games with the Buffalo Sabres, Vancouver Canucks, Phoenix Coyotes, Colorado Avalanche, Ducks and Leafs, May has accumulated 127 goals and 160 assists for 287 points, along with 2,182 penalty minutes.
May was originally drafted 14th overall by the Sabres in the 1990 NHL Entry Draft.
