Stars name Hitchcock head coach

Is it true that history repeats itself? Randy Carlyle went back to Anaheim, and now Ken Hitchcock is back in Dallas.

The Dallas Stars announced that Hitchcock will return as head coach to the franchise where he won the Stanley Cup in 1999.

Hitchcock's record with Dallas between 1996-2002 was 277-154-60-12, including five-consecutive division titles, and after 15 years, he's coming back in hopes to turn the team around.

Former Dallas Head Coach Lindy Ruff was not given a contract extension after the Stars did not make the playoffs this season, finishing 34-37-11.

No doubt a veteran coach, Hitchcock has coached 20 seasons in the NHL, with a record of 781-474-88-111. With just one win away from third most wins in league history, Hitchcock was fired from the St. Louis Blues on Feb. 1 2017.

The Stars won their only Stanley Cup under Hitchcock. A story similar to Anaheim, will the coaching change prove that history repeats itself, or are they simply living in the past?
