Stars set to buy out Rome

Aaron Rome's time in Dallas is coming to an end, as the Stars have placed the defenseman on waivers with the purposes of buying him out.

Rome, 30, picked up just one assist and 11 penalty minutes in 25 games with the Stars this season.

In 226 career games with the Stars, Anaheim Ducks, Columbus Blue Jackets and Vancouver Canucks, Rome has accumulated six goals and 22 assists for 28 points.

Rome has one year left on his contract. Though his salary cap hit is $1.5 million he is owed $1.6 million next season.

Once Rome clears waivers, the Stars will buy out the final year of his contract.
