Stars narrowing down coaching search

The Dallas Stars seem to be focused on a select number of coaching candidates to take over behind their bench, TFP has learned.

It's believed former Buffalo Sabres head coach Lindy Ruff and former New York Rangers coach John Tortorella are being seriously considered for the job.

In addition to Ruff and Tortorella, Stars AHL coach Willie Desjardins is also up for the position.

TFP Editor-in-Chief David Pagnotta reported Saturday night via Twitter that Stars GM Jim Nill will interview Grand Rapids Griffins coach Jeff Blashill soon after AHL Finals conclude this coming week.

It's unclear if former Tampa Bay Lightning coach Guy Boucher is also being considered.

Nill isn't rushing his decision, but the Stars would like to have a new coach in place by the June 30 NHL Draft.
