Veteran Stars defenseman Stephane Robidas has joined HIFK of Finland's SM-Liiga and will be playing for them for the duration of the NHL lockout.
Robidas, 35, has signed a one-month contract and will renew should the lockout continue beyond that point.
"You know me," Robidas told the Dallas Morning News earlier today. "It's not for money, it's not because I want to get out of town or anything. My kids are in school and I don' want to leave them here. But I have to play. I just feel like I need to get out there and skate and make sure I can be the best player I can be."
Robidas, who spent the 2004-05 NHL lockout playing in Germany, registered five goals and 17 assists for 22 points, along with 48 penalty minutes, in 75 games with Dallas last season.
