Benn heads to Germany

Dallas Stars forward Jamie Benn has signed on with the Hamburg Freezers of the Deutsche Eishockey Liga in Germany and will play there during the lockout.

Benn, a restricted free agent, will return to Dallas once the NHL lockout concludes, providing the regular-season is not cancelled.

Benn joins Buffalo Sabres defenseman Christian Ehrhoff, Florida Panthers center Marcel Goc and Boston Bruins defenseman Dennis Seidenberg as the only other NHLers to sign in the Deutsche Eishockey Liga during the lockout.

In 71 games with the Stars last season, Benn registered 26 goals and 37 assists for 63 points, along with a plus-15 rating and 55 penalty minutes.
