Stars also in the race for top players TheFourthPeriod.com
The Dallas News reports that the Stars will try to include themselves in the race for every top player available, including New Jersey's Zach Parise, Nashville's Ryan Suter and Columbus's Rick Nash.
Though the Stars are coming out of a rough season where they finished in 10th place of the Western Conference, they might still be able to land young defenseman Justin Schultz, who can become an unrestricted free agent by the end of the month.
Since Schultz will sign an entry-level contract, interested teams will all offer the standard numbers, but the young blueliner will get to choose amongst them where he wants to play.
However, acquiring Parise, Suter or Nash might be a much bigger challenge, since all three players are looking to join a contender for many years to come.
While the Stars have new ownership, changes are expected to take time to happen, but could eventually bring the team back into Cup contention.
