Stars could have active summer

With their new ownership locked up, the Stars could be one of the more active teams this off-season, as they build for the 2012-13 season.

According to the Dallas Morning News, the Stars could go after New Jersey Devils sniper Zach Parise, if he hits the free agent market July 1.

Parise is schedule to become an unrestricted free agent and all signs point to him testing the waters this summer.

Morning News columnist Mike Heika believes the Stars have a good shot at signing Parise, and if that happens, the team could turn around and look to trade players like Steve Ott and captain Brenden Morrow.

The Stars are also in need of a solid defenseman, an area in which GM Joe Nieuwendyk might need to improve upon via the trade front, rather than free agency.

Heika suggests the Stars could dangle some of their prospects as trade bait in order to obtain some immediate help.
