Grossman ignores trade rumors

Stars defenseman Nicklas Grossman has decided to ignore the trade rumors that may be linked to him as the Feb. 27 deadline fast approaches, the Dallas Morning News reports.

The 27-year-old, who is set to become an unrestricted free agent this summer, is expected to be moved before the trade deadline if the Stars don't sign him to extension in the coming weeks since they won't risk losing him for nothing in the off-season.

"I don't follow the media or look at anything about the trade rumors, so they don't affect me," Grossman told the Morning News. "I just concentrate on the game I'm playing.

"You can say that, but since I can't control that, I can't really worry about it. I just have to focus on what I can control."

Stars GM Joe Nieuwendyk is looking to acquire a top-six goal-scorer and a rugged, stay-at-home defenseman in the final weeks leading to the deadline.

In 52 games with the Stars this season, Grossman has tallied five assists and 26 penalty minutes.
