The Dallas Stars have placed defenseman Sheldon Souray on the injured reserve with a sprained ankle, the team confirmed on its website.
The 35-year-old sustained the injury during on a game against the Nashville Predators on Dec. 23.
In 34 games with the Stars this season, Souray has tallied four goals and 12 assists for 16 points.
The team also called up blueliner Brenden Dillon from its AHL affiliate to ensure the Stars have solid depth on defense against the Detroit Red Wings on Tuesday.
