Stars want Hatcher back?

TheFourthPeriod.com

The Dallas Stars are supposedly interested in bringing back Flyers veteran defenseman Derian Hatcher, reports the Philadelphia Daily News.

Hatcher told the newspaper he heard just before the All-Star break that the Stars are looking to bring him back to add some physical presence to their blueline.

"I haven't heard anything since then, but that was what I heard," he said. "I have a friend there who calls me and he told me that their giving up a lot of goals."

Hatcher, 34, has notched merely one assist, along with 59 penalty minutes, in 50 games with the Flyers this season.

The native of Sterling Heights, Michigan is making $3.5 million this season.

Meanwhile, the Stars are also interested in acquiring an offensive-minded forward to help put some pucks in the net.

The Stars need offense more than anything. Acquiring a veteran defenseman like Hatcher, while beneficial during the post-season, shouldn't be their top priority. This team needs help scoring goals, especially once the playoffs hit.
