The Colorado Avalanche would like to get right wing Mikkel Boedker signed to a new contract, but he's likely to test the free agent market this summer.
Avalanche GM Joe Sakic todl the Denver Post he liked what he saw from Boedker, acquired at the trade deadline from the Arizona Coyotes, and wants him back.
However, Boedker's unlikely to balk from his asking price of around $5.5 million per year over at least five-years.
"There's no decision as of right now," Boedker told the Post prior to the end of the regular-season last week. "I've enjoyed my time here so far and we'll see what happens in the summer."
Boedker, 26, will become an unrestricted free agent July 1 and will be one of the most sought-after forwards in the NHL.
In 80 games with the Coyotes and Avs this season, Boedker registered 17 goals and 34 assists for 51 points.
