TheFourthPeriod.com

The Colorado Avalanche has expressed interest in unrestricted free agent right wing Jarome Iginla, who is seeking a two-year contract.

Iginla has been in talks with the Boston Bruins about signing a one-year deal with the club, but the two sides have been unable to come to terms on an agreement.

Several teams have been eyeing Iginla, including the Minnesota Wild, Detroit Red Wings and Tampa Bay Lightning.

According to Denver Post beat reporter Adrian Dater, the Avalanche has made a strong pitch for Iginla.

In 78 games with the Bruins this past season, Iginla registered 30 goals and 31 assists for 61 points.

Drafted 11th overall by the Dallas Stars in 1995, Iginla has played in 1,310 career NHL regular-season games with the Calgary Flames, Pittsburgh Penguins and Bruins, and has accumulated 560 goals and 607 assists for 1,167 points, as well as 887 penalty minutes.
