The Buffalo Sabres are entertaining calls for blueliner Christian Ehrhoff, and the Avs could be knocking on Sabres GM Tim Murray's door about him.
"We'll see what unfolds tomorrow," Colorado's EVP of Hockey Operations Joe Sakic told ESPN's Pierre LeBrun. "Are we looking to upgrade? I think everyone, if they can, is looking to upgrade. But we're pretty content with what we've got here right now. If something that makes sense that's going to help us, not just this year but for the next 2-3 years, then that's something we might look at."
The Avs have kicked the tires on New York Islanders defenseman Andrew MacDonald, but his price tag is too high, and reaffirms Colorado's position against acquiring a rental player.
"If there's a hockey deal that makes sense and makes us a better team, for sure we'd look to do that," Sakic said.
The Avs may also have interest in Tyler Myers, whom the Sabres are also willing to trade, Florida blueliner Dmitry Kulikov, whom the Panthers are reluctant to move, and Philadelphia Flyers rearguard Braydon Coburn.
