Stastny back on the block?

Trade rumors are starting to pop up again over center Paul Stastny's tenure with the Colorado Avalanche, reports the Ottawa Sun.

According to the paper, if the Avalanche can acquire a first-round draft pick and a player in exchange for Stastny by the March 5 trade deadline, they'll likely move him.

Stastny, 28, is in the final-year of his current contract that pays him $6.6 million and can become an unrestricted free agent July 1.

The Avs have yet to start contract negotiations with Stastny, though it's believed he will test the open market this coming summer.

Stastny has been the subject of numerous trade rumors over the last few seasons, primarily due to his contract.

He currently ranks fourth on the Avalanche in scoring, with 27 points (11 goals, 16 assists) through 39 games so far this season.
