Landeskog staying in Denver, for now

Despite various reports in Norway and Sweden claiming that teams in those countries are either trying to sign or are close to signing Avalanche captain Gabriel Landeskog, the 19-year-old tells TFP he isn't going anywhere any time soon.

It has been widely reported that teams in the Norwegian hockey league, GET-Ligaen, and clubs in HockeyAllsvenskan, Sweden's Division II league, have reached out to him and believe they have a shot at signing him.

While they may be interested, Landeskog hasn't spoken with any clubs and plans on staying in Denver for the immediate future.

"I've had no contact with any teams to this point and I'm not planning on going anywhere right now," Landeskog told TFP Editor-in-Chief David Pagnotta earlier this morning.

Landeskog was in Toronto on Monday for a brand marketing event in which he a spokesman for, and returned to Denver on Tuesday.

The native of Stockholm, Sweden, registered 22 goals and 30 assists for 52 points, along with a plus-20 rating, in 82 games with the Avs last season.

Meanwhile, fellow-countryman Carl Gunnarsson of the Toronto Maple Leafs has returned to Sweden, but isn't planning on signing with any European club just yet.

"I'm going to wait a bit," he told TFP from his home in Sweden.
