Giguere signs 1-year extension

The Colorado Avalanche has signed veteran goaltender Jean-Sebastien Giguere to a one-year, $1.5 million contract extension.

Giguere, 35, had a 15-11-3 record with a 2.27 goals-against-average and .919 save percentage last season.

He has one-year left on his current deal that pays him $1.25 million.

In 557 career NHL games, Giguere has posted a 246-206-45 career record with a 2.52 goals-against-average, a .915 save percentage and 36 shutouts, with the Hartford Whalers, Calgary Flames, Anaheim Ducks, Toronto Maple Leafs and Avs.

Giguere was originally drafted by Hartford in the first round (13th overall) of the 1995 Entry Draft.
