Avs sign forward Mitchell

The Colorado Avalanche have signed unrestricted free agent forward John Mitchell to a two-year, $2.2 million contract.

Mitchell, 27, registered five goals and 11 assists for 16 points in 65 games with the New York Rangers this past season.
