With head coach Joe Sacco now locked up to a new two-year contract, the Colorado Avalanche might their attention to the future of captain Milan Hejduk, who is contemplating retirement, and the ones of several free agents.
Hejduk is set to become an unrestricted free agent July 1 and it's uncertain whether or not he plans on playing another season in the NHL.
Avs leading-scorer Ryan O'Reilly, forwards Matt Duchene and Peter Mueller, along with defenseman Erik Johnson, are all restricted free agents, as are Jamie McGinn and Steve Downie, two players the Avs acquired before the trade deadline.
The team's other unrestricted free agents include blueliners Shane O'Brien and Matt Hunwick, and forwards Jay McClement, Cody McLeod and David Jones.
