TheFourthPeriod.com

TFP has learned that the Colorado Avalanche has traded defenseman Kyle Quincey to the Tampa Bay Lightning.

In exchange for Quincey, the Lightning has dealt right wing Steve Downie to Colorado, as first reported by TSN's Bob McKenzie.

The Lightning then shipped Quincey to the Detroit Red Wings for a 2012 first-round pick and defenseman Sebastien Piche.

Downie, 24, has registered 12 goals and 16 assists for 28 points in 55 games with the Lightning this season.

He is scheduled to become a restricted free agent at the end of the season.

Quincey, 26, has played in 54 games with the Avs this season, registering five goals and 18 assists for 23 points, along with 60 penalty minutes.

He can also become an RFA this summer.
