With 40 games of playoff experience, he could provide some depth on the blueline for a Stanley Cup contender and allow the Avs an interesting return.
Meanwhile, the veteran blueliner chooses to focus on the game and getting back into gear.
"My game wasn't where it needed to be. It's a long season and it's tough to be at your best every night, but you're a pro and you've got to try to do that," O'Brien told the Post. "Right now I'm just trying to work as hard as I can, keep my legs going and keep my energy up. Hopefully, I can get back to where I was playing a month ago or so."
In 50 games with the Avalanche this season, O'Brien has accumulated one goal and 12 assists for 13 points, and 79 penalty minutes.
