Muller activated from IR

Colorado Avalanche forward Peter Mueller has been activated from injured reserve, the Denver Post reports, and could potential take part in the lineup of Thursday's contest against the Nashville Predators.

The 23-year-old has participated in only 18 games in three seasons with the Avs due to two concussions and recurring head problems.

Mueller missed all of last season after he sustained a second concussion in just five months during an exhibition game on Sept. 22, 2010.

The young center had recently been practicing with his teammates after sitting out for a period throughout the last month.

He played only in the first three contests this season and has yet to record a point.

To make room for the returning Mueller on its 23-man roster, the Avalanche placed defenseman Shane O'Brien, who suffered a knee injury, on IR, retroactive to Jan. 7.
