Chicago Blackhawks forward Bryan Bickell revealed via his Twitter account late on Tuesday that he is heading overseas to play in Austria during the work stoppage.
"Tomorrow is the day I bring my skills overseas. #Austria," he posted on Twitter.
Bickell, 26, is the first Hawks player from North America to sign in Europe during the NHL lockout.
He is expected to play for HC Znojmo, a Czech Republic-based team playing in the Austrian League.
Bickell, who has just a year left on his three-contract with the Hawks, posted nine goals and 15 assists for 24 points in 71 games last season.
