Frolik jumps on with Czech club TheFourthPeriod.com
Chicago Blackhawks forward Michael Frolik will be spending the NHL lockout in the Czech Republic, playing for Pirati Chomutov of the Czech Extraliga.
Frolik, 24, becomes the 18th NHL players to join a team in the Czech Extraliga, but only the first to sign with Chomutov.
In 63 games with the Blackhawks last season, Frolik recorded five goals and 10 assists for 15 points.
Frolik is also the first member of the Blackhawks to sign overseas during the lockout. Hawks forward Viktor Stralberg is expected to sign with Frolunda HC of the Swedish Elite League in near future.
Blackhawks stars Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane have also received interest from overseas, their agent, Pat Brisson, confirmed to TFP this week.
