Toews injured in loss

Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews left his team's game against the Nashville Predators in the second period Saturday night after suffering an upper-body injury, the Chicago Tribune reports.

The 23-year-old was shoved lightly into a Predator's defenseman in front of the Nashville net just before his shift and night ended.

Toews was slashed by defenseman Erik Gudbranson on Friday night against the Florida Panthers favoring his left hand for a portion of the game, but stated that he was fine after the contest.

It is unclear if Toews aggravated this injury or suffered a new one.

"We'll know more over the next day or so. We'll say day to day," coach Joel Quenneville told the Tribune.

In 49 games with the Hawks this season, Toews has collected 27 goals and 23 assists for 50 points.
