Carcillo could require surgery

Blackhawks agitator Daniel Carcillo might require surgery on his injured left leg, according to ESPN Chicago.

The 26-year old has served four games of his seven-game suspension for the hit that resulted in his injury, after he boarded the Edmonton Oilers defenseman Tom Gilbert on Jan 2.

"Danny could have surgery," coach Joel Quenneville told ESPN. "It's at the discussion stages, but it's out there."

Quenneville did not discount the likelihood that Carcillo's season might be over.

Carcillo signed a one-year contract with the Hawks on July, 1 2011.

In 28 games this season, Carcillo has tallied two points and nine assists for 11 points, and 82 penalty minutes.
