Hawks inching closer to a trade?
TheFourthPeriod.com

The Chicago Blackhawks would like to make a trade, but the salary cap is making it very difficult for general manager Stan Bowman to pull the trigger.

With roughly $600,000 in available cap space, the Blackhawks would have to presumably trade away a roster player in order to free up some extra cash.

It has been widely reported that the Hawks are dangling forwards Dave Bolland and Jack Skille as trade bait, but a deal does not appear to be imminent.

Skille was a last minute healthy scratch on Thursday, surprising some and prompting speculation that a deal might be near.

In 37 games with the Hawks so far this season, Skille has picked up six goals and eight assists for 14 points. Bolland, meanwhile has registered five goals and nine assists, also for 14 points, in 32 games.

Bowman is believed to be in the market for a top-six forward, a two-way depth forward and a veteran defenseman.
