TheFourthPeriod.com

The Chicago Blackhawks have re-signed forward Andrew Ladd to a two-year contract. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Ladd, 22, came to the Blackhawks via the Carolina Hurricanes in exchange for Tuomo Ruutu on Feb. 26, 2008.

In 2007-08, he played in a total of 63 games with the Hurricanes and Blackhawks and totaled 14 goals with 16 assists for 30 points and 35 penalty minutes.

In 157 career NHL games with Carolina and Chicago, Ladd has accumulated 31 goals and 31 assists.

David Pagnotta is returning from draft weekend in Ottawa and is unavailable to comment.
