Blackhawks re-sign Lalime TheFourthPeriod.com
The Chicago Blackhawks have agreed to terms with goaltender Patrick Lalime on a one-year contract worth $950,000.
Lalime, 32, appeared in 12 games with the Blackhawks this past season posting a record of 4-5-1 with one shutout, a 3.07 goals against average and a .896 save percentage.
In his career, Lalime has appeared in 365 NHL games posting a record of 175 wins, 136 losses, 32 ties and 27 overtime losses while notching a 2.51 goals against average and a .906 save percentage.
He was originally selected by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the 6th round, 156th overall, in the 1993 NHL Entry Draft. Lalime has also played for the Pittsburgh Penguins, Ottawa Senators and the St. Louis Blues during his NHL career.
The Blackhawks liked having Lalime as their backup and want him around next year, as evident with his new contract. With their goaltending situation out of the way, the Hawks will continue their attempts to sign center Michal Handzus.
