Flames acquire Smith from Coyotes

The Calgary Flames have acquired goaltender Mike Smith from the Arizona Coyotes in exchange for the rights to goalie Chad Johnson, defenseman Brandon Hickey and a conditional third-round draft pick.

The Coyotes will retain 25 percent of Smith's remaining salary.

Smith, 35, has two-years left on his contract, which comes with a $5.667 million salary cap hit.

In 55 games with the Coyotes this season, Smith posted a 19-26-9 record with a 2.92 goals-against-average, a .914 save percentage and three shutouts.
