Wideman available for trade
TheFourthPeriod.com

Flames defenseman Dennis Wideman could be on his way out of Calgary this season, as the club is believed to be taking calls on him.

Wideman, 31, is in the third-year of a five-year, $26.25 million contract and owns a no-movement clause. He would have to approve any deal the team tries to make.

Several teams are looking to bolster their blueline and would like an offensive-minded rearguard like Wideman.

The Detroit Red Wings, Anaheim Ducks, Dallas Stars and San Jose Sharks are among the teams looking for a top-pairing defenseman and could have some interest in Wideman, who has one goal in five games with the Flames.

Wideman, a native of Kitchener, Ontario, has accumulated 78 goals and 217 assists for 295 points in 632 career games, to date, with the St. Louis Blues, Boston Bruins, Florida Panthers, Washington Capitals and Flames.
