The Calgary Flames announced today that they have signed goaltender Joni Ortio to a two-year contract.
Ortio, a native of Turku, Finland, played 10 games with the Flames during the 2013-14 season.
He played in his first NHL game on Feb. 27 stopping 20 of 22 shots and earned his first NHL win on March 5th stopping 30 of 31 shots in a 4-1 victory over the Ottawa Senators. He posted a 4-5-0 record with a 2.84 GAA.
Originally drafted by the Flames in the sixth-round of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft, Ortio posted a 27-8-0 record in another 37 games with the Flames AHL affiliate.
