Report: Kiprusoff to retire at season's end
TheFourthPeriod.com

It appears Miikka Kiprusoff is taking himself out of the trade race, as it's believed he is planning on retiring at the end of the regular-season.

According to TSN's Darren Dreger, who broke the news on television earlier, Kiprusoff's preference is to play out the rest of the regular-season and the hang up his skates.

As a result, the Toronto Maple Leafs, who were trying to acquire Kiprusoff, will have to focus on obtaining another goaltender, either Vancouver's Roberto Luongo or Edmonton's Nikolai Khabibulin.

The Leafs and Canucks have been in deep discussions regarding Luongo, over the last week.

It's believed the Canucks are looking for a scoring winger, a prospect and a draft pick. Leafs forwards Clarke MacArthur and Nikolai Kulemin are two players the Canucks are interested in.

The Flames, meanwhile, will focus on dealing some of their other players, such as defenseman Cory Sarich and forwards Curtis Glencross and Lee Stempniak.
