Hudler to join HC Trinec

Calgary Flames right wing Jiri Hudler is expected to sign with HC Ocelari Trinec of the Czech Extraliga in the coming days.

Hudler, 28, played in four games for HC Lev Praha of the KHL in October before suffering an abdominal and groin injury, upon which his contract was terminated.

According to the Trinec team website, Hudler skated with the club this morning and is expected to formally join the team later this week.

Phoenix Coyotes defenseman Rostislav Klesla played 18 games for Trinec before his contract expired. It's uncertain if he'll rejoin the club if the NHL lockout wipes out the entire season.

Hudler could join former NHLers Radek Bonk, Vaclav Varada and Tomas Kloucek on Trinec, who currently sit seventh in the Czech Extraliga standings.

The native of Olomouc, Czech Republic, signed a four-year, $16 million contract with the Flames as an unrestricted free agent in July after a career-high 25-goal season with the Detroit Red Wings.
