The Calgary Flames have re-signed veteran defenseman Cory Sarich to a two-year, $4 million contract.
Sarich, 33, was set to become an unrestricted free agent July 1.
In 62 games with the Flames this past season, Sarich registered one goal, seven assists and 66 penalty minutes.
Sarich has played in 887 career NHL games over his career, and has accumulated 20 goals and 126 assists for 146 points, along with 1,035 penalty minutes.
He was originally drafted by the Buffalo Sabres in the second round (27th overall) of the 1996 NHL Entry Draft.
