Flames eyeing Capitals defenders?

The Flames are looking to make a move to bolster their blueline and the Calgary Sun reports GM Jay Feaster could target one of Washington's defensemen.

Feaster is looking to make further improvements to his roster, and having dealt Robyn Regehr, a spot on the team's defense is still open, despite receiving Chris Butler from the Sabres.

The Sun suggests the Flames could pursue Capitals defenseman Karl Alzner, who played for the WHL's Calgary Hitmen.

Alzner, 22, is a restricted free agent and the Capitals are sitting dangerously close to the $64.3 million salary cap.

Meanwhile, having failed to sign center Brad Richards last week, losing out to the New York Rangers, the Flames could also be looking for an upgrade at the forward position.

The Sun notes Feaster could try to pry Alexander Semin out of Washington, as his name has been tossed around the trade block over the last few weeks.
