Murray has successful surgery

Columbus Blue Jackets top prospect Ryan Murray had successful surgery this morning on his injured left shoulder and will spend the next six months recovering.

Murray, drafted second-overall by the Blue Jackets in June, dislocated his shoulder in a WHL game in November.

Blue Jackets beat reporter Aaron Portzline of the Columbus Dispatch posted on Twitter that he was told the surgery "went well."

The surgery was performed by Dr. Anthony Miniaci, who has worked on several professional athletes over his career, at the Cleveland Clinic.

Murray will attend the Blue Jackets' training camp in September for the 2013-14 season, but could be returned to his WHL club.
