Potential lockout could cost Columbus All-Star Game TheFourthPeriod.com
If there is another NHL lockout, Aaron Portzline of the Columbus Dispatch reports that one of the first things to go could be the All-Star Game.
Columbus' Nationwide Arena was selected as host of the All-Star Game, scheduled for Jan. 27, but the threat of an NHL lockout could prevent the game from taking place.
During the 2004-05 lockout, the All-Star Game, which was set to take place in Atlanta, was canceled on Nov. 3.
It remains to be seen if the League will choose to call off the game as early as it did in 2004 if the NHL and NHL Players' Association can't settle on a new Collective Bargaining Agreement before Sept. 15.
If the 2013 All-Star Game is canceled due to the unresolved CBA negotiations, the Blue Jackets would have to wait for at least 2015 to host the game again, as there would be no 2014 All-Star Game due to the Winter Olympics.
