The Columbus Blue Jackets have traded center Antoine Vermette to the Phoenix Coyotes in exchange for goalie Curtis McElhinney, a 2012 second-round draft pick and a conditional 2013 fifth-round draft pick.
Vermette, 29, has played in 60 games with the Blue Jackets this season, registering eight goals and 19 assists for 27 points.
Vermette, was third on the Blue Jackets in scoring, has three-years remaining on his current contract beyond this season.
In 600 career NHL games with Ottawa and Columbus, Vermette has accumulated 141 goals and 178 assists for 319 points.
If the Coyotes make the playoffs, the fifth-round pick in 2013 becomes a fourth-round draft choice.
