Blue Jackets back as buyers?
TheFourthPeriod.com

The Blue Jackets had been in playoff contention for most of the season, but a slip in the standings recently nearly pushed them out of the mix.

Now, as they sit two points out of a playoff spot, the Columbus Dispatch reports the team is now looking to buy to improve its chances as post-season play.

"We're playing really well right now, and this group has a lot of confidence," Blue Jackets goalie Steve Mason told the paper. "We're really starting to click at the right time. Nobody wants to leave this team."

Mason, along with defensemen Rostislav Klesla and Jan Hejda, and forwards Kristian Huselius, Ethan Moreau and Jakub Voracek had been rumored to be on the block for several weeks.

While it's still possible for the Blue Jackets to deal a significant roster player, it might only occur if another top-tier player is coming in return.

The Blue Jackets had been speaking with the Pittsburgh Penguins about a deal involving Voracek and defenseman Alex Goligoski, who was dealt to Dallas on Monday.
