The Columbus Blue Jackets have claimed left wing Ethan Moreau off waivers from the Edmonton Oilers.
Moreau, who served as the Oilers captain the past three years, has registered 145 goals and 132 assists for 277 points with 1,066 penalty minutes in 863 career NHL games with Edmonton and Chicago.
"We are very pleased and excited to add a player of Ethan's caliber and person of his character to the Blue Jackets organization," said Blue Jackets GM Scott Howson. "He will bring valuable leadership, competitiveness and experience to our lineup.”
Moreau, 34, was originally drafted 14th overall by the Blackhawks in the 1994 NHL Entry Draft.
The Blue Jackets tried to acquire Moreau at the Mar. 3 trade deadline, but were unable to come to terms on a deal.
