Blue Jackets likely to trade Torres

According to the Columbus Dispatch, the Blue Jackets are expected to trade veteran left wing Raffi Torres to a playoff contender before the trade deadline.

Torres, who is in the final year of his current contract and can become an unrestricted free agent July 1, could be moved for draft picks or prospects, the paper suggests.

One month and one day from the NHL trade deadline, all signs point to Blue Jackets left winger Raffi Torres being traded to a playoff contender in exchange for draft picks or prospects.

Torres, 28, would prefer to stay in Columbus, but he understands trades are part of the business.

"I want to stay here and play hockey here. I'm very happy here in Columbus," he told the Dispatch.

"To be honest, I have to stop thinking about (a contract extension) and just worry about what's happening on the ice. I don't feel like I've been playing my best hockey for the last couple of weeks or so."

The Dispatch reports the Washington Capitals, Pittsburgh Penguins and New York Rangers are supposedly interested in Torres.
